About Kathryn

Kathryn founded Upright Health and Wellness based on a vision of serving individuals on their journey to better health, and does so by providing natural solutions to health challenges. With a bachelor’s degree in International Studies and a minor in Business from Hope College, she spent four years living and working in Japan, where she was inspired to explore Eastern medicine and thought, including Chi Gung, Acupuncture, Shiatsu and Chinese Herbology. 

Kathryn became a massage practitioner in 1997, graduating from Health Enrichment Center (HEC) in Lapeer, Michigan and completing the Clinical Approaches Program from HEC in 1998. She has continued her education with instruction in Chi Gung with Peter Yates and Master Sifu Lew, CranioSacral Therapy through the Upledger Institute, and over 15 years of study with Young Living Essential Oils. Kathryn is a member of the IAHP, an international network of healthcare practitioners.

Kathryn, in conjunction with Brigitte Bowler, DC, Essential Chiropractic, have developed innovative model called Structural Hygiene for the Developing Human (R)  that involves upper cervical chiropractic, craniosacral techniques and a patient education model for self-care.  Today, Kathryn specializes in Craniosacral Therapy, Somato Emotional Release, Raindrop Technique, Lymphatic Drainage using essential oils, and is an actively practicing doula.  ​
