Heartache Over Heartburn

Did you know that the acid in your stomach is strong enough to severely burn your skin?🔥 So how does it just hangout in your stomach you ask?
Well, there is a thick layer of mucus that protects the stomach lining and keeps it inside where your stomach muscles are at work churning it for the digestion process.

When this gastric acid sometimes leaks up into the esophagus, which lacks this mucus layer, you know the burning feeling as heartburn.
🥡Believe it or not, stomach acid isn’t just there to punish you for eating take-out food, it's actually a prerequisite to healthy digestion! Whether you’ve experienced the unpleasantness of acid reflux or suffer with chronic heart burn or GERD it’s easy to make stomach acid the villain.
This misunderstanding is continually perpetuated by drug companies and those snappy little Tums commercials both working hard to convince you less acid is better.

Did you know proton-pump inhibitors (PPIs) are one of the most popular classes of drugs prescribed?!

Doctors wrote 114 million prescriptions for them last year. Americans spend $5.1 billion on Nexium, the most popular PPI, alone. That’s not even factoring in over the counter antacids such as Tums. But most people have no idea how many vital roles stomach acid plays in our bodies.
Without the optimum range of acidity in the stomach we’ll experience:
❌Impaired nutrient absorption
❌Promoted bacterial overgrowth
❌Decreased resistance to infection
Talk about a huge blow to your wellness! While reflux issues are understandably painful, the outcomes of repeated PPI use are just as bad.
Next time you experience symptoms try some natural options instead:
🍋Adding more alkaline-rich foods into your diet is a great start!
💪Support your lymph. Incorporate breathing exercises prior to big meals and lymph drainage massages into your routine.
💧Up your alkaline water intake - you can find these bottled at most grocery stores.
🦷Chew your food! Saliva is alkaline-forming, so chewing every mouthful 20 to 40 times is ideal.
✨Or if you need more immediate relief following a reflux triggering meal, we reach for a natural alkalizing supplement like Alkalime that combines mineral cell salts with lemon and lime oils to maintain an optimal pH in the stomach.
