Carefree Hair Care

Your hair is your crown! First make sure you're nourishing YOU and your hair from the inside with proper hydration and supplements. Next, let's help the mane we currently have by utilizing the natural plant powers of essential oils!
Examine Your Shampoos and Conditioners
Sulfates, silicones, and other synthetic chemicals are often found in hair care products--even the expensive ones. Sulfates can actually strip your hair of its natural oil and moisture, leaving it dry and dull, while silicones can build up over time, leaving your freshly washed hair feeling less than clean and looking lifeless.

Instead look for toxic-free hair care that contain no harsh sulfates, silicones, parabens, phthalates, synthetic preservatives, DEA, or synthetic colors or fragrances.

While there are some great products on the market that fit the bill our team personally LOVE Young Livings Shampoos and Conditioners! However, there's some important items of note to keep in mind when switching to a cleaner hair care regardless of brand:

  • Less lathering: Without sulfates, natural shampoos won’t lather as much as you’re used to; but that doesn’t mean your hair isn’t getting clean.
  • Less slip: At first, you may notice the conditioner doesn’t give your hair the silky slip sensation you’re used to. This is normal while your hair gets rid of the silicone buildup.
    • *Hair Care Tip: Help speed up the process of detoxing from the mainstream shampoos and conditioners by rinsing your hair with apple cider vinegar to help rid your hair of built-up chemicals and hair products.
  • More is sometimes more: As you adjust, you may want to use a little more conditioner during this transition phase.
    • *Hair Care Tip: YL conditioners don’t contain heavy silicones, so they won’t weigh down your hair.
  • More natural oils (only at first!): Without harsh sulfates stripping oils from your hair, your strands may feel oilier at first, especially at the roots. This is completely normal and should even out over time.
If you’re midway through the transition, don’t give up! The transition process is just that: a process. Healthy-looking, happy hair is just around the corner.
Make Waves with a DIY Mermaid Spray!
Your hair takes a beating everyday from weather, pollution, and sun exposure, as well as damage from heat styling and chemical treatments. Dry hair is more prone to breakage and split ends, so keeping it hydrated maintains its strength and flexibility. This nourishing blend uses essential oils perfect for everyday mermaid magic!

*Hair Care Tip: Not a fan of weekly hair treatments or sprays? Add 5 drops of Rosemary, Lavender, and Cedarwood essential oil to your normal shampoo and conditioner. Pump and lather away as normal!
